More than 200 teachers from 15 parochial schools in Orange and Rockland County underwent a day-long staff training at Bishop Dunn Memorial School on Tuesday, November 2, in Newburgh, where they learned about new resources and techniques in education.
The keynote speaker, Dr. Joan J. Miller, talked about the newest approach to working with students who a learning disability in general education classes. The so-called Response to Intervention is a recent state mandate in New York.
The workshops were presented in cooperation with Mount Saint Mary College, Department of Education and included sessions on working with autistic students and using the new Smartboard and Web 2.0 technologies.
Bishop Dunn Memorial School, a K-8 school, is located on the campus of Mount Saint Mary College.
