James Patterson, seen here with book fair chair Diane Halstead and volunteer Jean DiNapoli, will add a name of choice selected by a raffle winner to one of his best-selling books.
Have you ever dreamed of having your name appear as a character in a book read by thousands? You could submit the name of your choice to appear in a mystery novel by best-selling author James Patterson if you take part in a raffle being held later this month to benefit the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy. The drawing will be part of a two-day book fair to be held at Barnes & Noble bookshop on Route 300 on Saturday and Sunday, January 29 and 30, 2011.
During the book fair, local author Barbara Allen will sign copies of her book Front Towards Enemy, a memoir of the events surrounding the fragging death of her husband, Lt. Louis Allen, in his barracks in Tikrit, Iraq, and the murder trial that followed. Mrs. Allen will also donate a portion of her book sales to the academy.
Customers and visitors to Barnes & Nobles at this time will be able to view art work by the students at the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy and meet some of the volunteers who contribute to the success of the private Catholic Middle School for underserved girls in Newburgh.
The book fair is the culmination of events of National Catholic Schools Week, which highlights the academic and social benefits offered to students in parochial schools.
Shoppers at any Barnes & Noble can contribute to the Nora Cronin Presentation Academy during the book fair by using the ID # 10287654 when making a purchase and a percentage of all sales for books and music will be donated to the academy.
