The robbery of a pizza delivery person on January 3rd has resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old man from the city of Newburgh. Police say that two men approached the delivery person on North Miller Street, claiming to have placed the pizza order. One of the individuals pulled a knife, police report, and demanded the delivery person’s possessions, then the subjects fled with the food, cash and personal items.
On Thursday, police announced the arrest of Douglas Dunbar, who had been released on parole on December 15th after serving seven years in prison for robbing a cab driver. He was charged with first-degree robbery. Police are continuing their investigation and expect further arrests.

In two separate cases, city of Newburgh police report they apprehended two men who have been charged with criminal possession of marijuana.
The first arrest by members of the anti-crime unit occurred on the evening of January 5th, when officers on patrol on Benkard Street reported seeing a man reach into a baby carriage and pull out a clear plastic bag that contained a green leafy substance. When the man saw the officers, he walked away and threw the bag into a garbage container. Police say they recovered 25 grams of marijuana and charged 23-year-old Omar Jackson of the city of Newburgh with criminal possession of marijuana.
Several hours later, an anti-crime unit spotted 35-year-old Dwayne Allison urinating in public on North Miller Street. Officers approached the man and smelled marijuana, then report finding 112 grams of it in his pocket, leading to Allison’s arrest for criminal possession of marijuana.
