Four men have been charged in an attack on two men who were robbed Saturday afternoon on Broadway near Fullerton Avenue in Newburgh. Responding shortly after 2 pm to a report of a man with a gun, police found two men, one bleeding from an apparent stab wound and the other with a gunshot wound to the leg.
An investigation led officers to a vehicle with three men in it whom they tied to the attack on Broadway. A semi-automatic handgun believed to have been used in the incident was also found.
The police investigation say that the attack on the two, unidentified males was a robbery. They later identified a fourth suspect and recovered approximately one-quarter pound of marijuana that is believed to be proceeds from the robbery.
The three men stopped in the vehicle, Denzel Arzola of Hughsonville, Chancllor Prescott of the Town of Newburgh and Ramone McDermott of Albany, all 18 years old, were charged with robbery in the first degree. McDermott was additionally charged with assault in the first degree. Police also charged Da’Quan Jones, 18, of the city of Newburgh, with robbery in the first degree, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
