A group of employees from St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital took part in a polar bear plunge last weekend to help raise money for the Special Olympics.
Staff members from various departments including Imaging, Pain Management, Environmental and Nursing rose to the challenge and entered the freezing water to raise $4,000 to help provide athletic competitions for those with intellectual disabilities.
“You are uncomfortable for a few moments but the people we are doing it for face tremendous challenges,” said George Sommers, an X-Ray Technician at SLCH. This was the line he used to persuade his coworkers to take a dip in the freezing cold water and has already begun to rally the troops for next year’s plunge.
