
The morning after the fire, a crew pulled debris out of the burned house, moving a small memorial left for the child who perished.
A building fire on William Street in the city of Newburgh claimed the life of a one-year-old baby girl on Friday afternoon. Police report that several residents, including two other children, managed to escape the burning building.
The City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to 56 William Street at approximately 2 pm, where they found heavy black smoke and the building fully ablaze, police say. Both the police and fire departments are investigating the fire.
