From Ann Kuzmik, the City of Newburgh
With hot summer days not far away, the City of Newburgh is working hard to find the funds to keep Delano Hitch Aquatic Center open for the upcoming season.
Last summer, an average of 500 children per day splashed and swam in the City pool. This year, more than $50,000 must be raised to offset the costs of staffing. The actual operational costs, only some of which are provided for in the budget, are projected to be nearly $68,000.
In order to raise money for the pool, the City hopes to sell at least 300 family memberships at $100 each, which would allow a family of four to use the pool for the entire season. If you would like to sponsor a family, please send a check made out to the City of Newburgh to Cheryl Gross, City Comptroller, City Hall, 83 Broadway. Put “Family Swim Fund” on the memo line.
More information will be available soon on how to purchase a membership for your own family, daily, seasonal and camp rates, and pool hours.
