From the Town of Newburgh Democratic Committee
The Town of Newburgh Democratic Committee recently conducted its second cleaning of the year as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program on the stretch of 9W between Balmville Elementary School and Stewarts.
Coordinator of the program, Chris Marino was enthused by the turnout and energy put into the much-needed cleaning of that stretch of road. Chris commented, “It’s good to get out there and get some real tangible results in cleaning our streets. It is discouraging though that since we last cleaned this stretch of road ample trash has found its way back.”
Stephen Krasner, the Democratic candidate for Town Supervisor who took part in the clean-up, said that increasing sprawl development in the town of Newburgh off Fostertown Road and in Meadow Hills contributes to garbage on town roads.
Chris Marino plans to organize the program again in October or November to clean up additional areas where trash has built up and collected over the years.
