Man Charged With Raping 8-Year-Old Girl

A city of Newburgh man has been charged with raping an eight-year-old girl who, police say, is a blood relative. Police say they believe that Habigail Galvez, 33, has been assaulting the unidenitified girl for as long as two years.

Police arrested Galvez Wednesday morning after an investigation by city police detective Michael Loscerbo.

Galvez was charged with rape in the first degree and predatory sexual assault against a child, both felonies. He was arraigned in city of Newburgh Court and remanded to Orange County Jail without bail.
