The Newburgh waterfront will be lifted up by music every Tuesday evening in July when performers in the Newburgh Gospel Series take the stage in Unico Park.
The Gospel Series is the creation of the Ferry Godmother Productions Project, which started the Newburgh Jazz Series five years ago. (You can return on Wednesdays and Thursdays to hear jazz.)
Showcasing some of the best vocal talent in the area, the Gospel Series will showcase the gospel choirs of House of Refuge, Ultimate Faith Ministries, Street Rock Ministries, St. Mary’s Church and Sacred Heart Church. Also set to perform are Souls United of the Hudson Valley, Divine Inspiration and Rapheal Williams.
In August, the Tuesday evening concerts will shift gears from gospel to doo-wop with the launching of the Newburgh Doo-Wop series.
The free concerts run from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. They are a “bring-your-own-chair” event.
