If you are planning to launch a boat this summer at the Newburgh waterfront, put some extra money in your pocket to cover the cost of a permit, which went up last Friday.
The city of Newburgh raised the fees for using the Washington Street Boat Launch from $8 to $15 for a daily permit. The city also started offering a seasonal pass for the first time for $100. The fee increases were approved by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
Daily permits are available on site during the day and the season permits are available at the city clerk’s office at City Hall, 83 Broadway, during business hours.
City officials advise permit holders to display their daily permit on the dashboard of their vehicles. Seasonal permits should be affixed to the back window.
