Democrat Stephan Krasner is taking another turn at trying to unseat Republican town of Newburgh supervisor Wayne Booth. Krasner and Booth both filed petitions this week to be candidates for supervisor. Booth also is seeking to appear on the Conservative party line and Krasner on the Working Families Party line. Krasner lost his bid against Booth two years ago in the supervisor race.
Incumbent Republican town council members George Woolsey and Gilbert Piaquadio filed for re-election with the Republican and Conservative parties. Two Democratic hopefuls for town council also filed this week. William Corbin and Vanessa Tirado, who is making her fourth run for a seat on the town council, have the back of the local Democratic committee, which Tirado chairs.
Meanwhile Gary MacEntee, Sr. has filed to run in the council race on the Independence Party and Working Families Party line. William Corbin also is backed by the Working Families Party.
Two other Republican and Conservative party candidates appear to be running unopposed this year. Incumbent judge Richard Clarino and town clerk Andrew Zarutskie will likely appear on the November ballot after filing their petitions this week.
