The Hudson Valley Area Labor Federation and the Central Labor Councils have endorsed Stephen Krasner and Bill Corbin, both Democrats, in the race for supervisor and town council in the town of Newburgh. Officials from the labor federation noted that the two Democrats, if elected in this November’s general election, officials will reflect the values of the working families throughout the Town of Newburgh.
Krasner is making a second run for the position held for 10 years by incumbent supervisor, Republican Wayne Booth. Two other Republicans, George Woolsey and Gilbert Piaquadio, both incumbent councilmembers, are running for re-election as well.
In announcing the labor federation’s endorsements, officials noted that they carefully follow the positions that elected officials take on key issues such as the rights of workers to organize, project labor agreements, living wages, quality education, occupational safety and health legislation and other issues that impact the lives of working men and women.
