A popular professor of English at Mount Saint Mary College has died after she was pinned to a tree by the door of her car outside her home in Cornwall.
Cornwall police chief Todd Hazard reports that police were called to a home on Armand’s Way just before 9:30 pm on Tuesday. Officers discovered Virginia Davidson, 68, pinned between the open door of her vehicle and a tree in her driveway. She was transported her to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, where she later died.
Police are still investigating the accident, including whether Davidson had any medical conditions that may have contributed to her injuries. He said there will be an autopsy.
Davidson was a familiar figure on campus and celebrated her birthday on August 15th.
