A town of Newburgh man died Tuesday from injuries he received in a beating last week, leading police to charge Pedro Brown, 35, of Newburgh, with murder in the second degree.
City of Newburgh police report that on August 9, they found Abraham Brennan, 39, on the sidewalk near 110 Johnston Street. He was unconscious and unresponsive as a result of a fractured skull and a traumatic brain injury he received in an apparent beating. Two days later, police charged Michael Doty, 30, of the town of Newburgh, with a felony assault in the second degree. On August 15, detectives charged David Simpson, 27, of Otisville, with gang assault in the first degree.
Detectives are continuing their investigation and say they expect to add or upgrade charges in the case.
