One day after the town of Newburgh issued a local state of emergency due to the flooding and closure of the roads following Tropical Storm Irene, town officials are asking residents to conserve water.
Town supervisor Wayne Booth requests that both residents and business that get their water from the town’s consolidated water district voluntarily conserve their water consumption because its primary source of water, the Delaware Aqueduct, has been shut down due to high turbidity.
While residents struggle to recover from the local flooding and dmage from Tropical Storm Irene, the county announced that people can drop off their debris at no charge at the county drop-off site on Route 17K. Officials ask that refuse be sorted into categories of wood, appliances, carpet and furniture.
