By the end of this week, Robinson Avenue is expected to re-open to two-way traffic, ending a major reconstruction of the main north-south thoroughfare through the city. Robinson Avenue is also known as Route 9W. Paving first started on the re-constructed roadway a year ago.
The city manager’s office announced Wednesday that the Argenio Brothers company will complete the paving by September 16, weather permitting. Temporary lane closures may persist throughout the remainder of the project construction.
Once Robinson Ave. is open to two-way traffic, the paving activities will shift to Marine Drive/Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard/Water Street, which should be completed by the end of September. Local traffic delays and intermittent road closures should be expected throughout this time frame.
Motorists are asked to follow the directions of construction signage and traffic control personnel.
