The Town of Newburgh Friends of Seniors has scheduled new training sessions for prospective volunteers. Two volunteer training sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4th and Wednesday, Oct. 12. From 10 a.m. to 12 noon. to be held at Town Hall, 1496 Route 300, in the Town of Newburgh. Volunteers are required to attend both sessions. All ages are welcome.
The program, which is sponsored by the Town of Newburgh, the Orange County Office for the Aging and Jewish Family Service, will train volunteers to assist seniors with grocery shopping, and transportation to medical appointments and provide friendly visits.
Once training is complete, volunteers may choose which days, hours and the type of service they wish to provide to accommodate their schedules.
Co-chairpersons of the Town of Newburgh project are Vivian Carlin and Anita Manley.
“There is such a need for volunteers in Orange County,” said Manley. “I hope residents of the county will step up and donate as little as an hour a week of their time!”
Anyone interested in volunteering anywhere in Orange County is welcome. More training sessions are scheduled throughout the county. For more information and training dates, check out the Jewish Family Service website at www.JFSOrange.org
