Chris Eachus, vice chairman of the American Legion squad in New Windsor, salutes at the American cementery at Normandy.
Orange County legislator and Newburgh Free Academy teacher Chris Eachus wrote about a special trip to Normandy and Omahu and Utah Beach that he made this summer as a representative of Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 1796, of New Windsor.
In memory of the many veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, Sons of the American Legion Squadron 1796, planted American flags on Omaha and Utah Beaches, and at the American Cemetery, in Normandy, France. The flag placement was performed by Vice-Commander Chris Eachus, on behalf of the entire squadron. The purpose of the Sons of the American Legion is to foster respect and recognition for all of our veterans who have served throughout history for our nation and to further Americanism in our communities.
SAL, Squadron 1796, led by Commander Frank Malloy (fmalloy@advancedtesting.com) encourages all citizens to remember the many sacrifices of our veterans, past and present, and to continually ‘Thank a Vet’ in any and all ways possible.
