Town of Newburgh clerk Andrew Zarutskie announced at the town council meeting on Monday that a recognition and tribute dinner to World War Two vets that will honor them in two ways.
First the dinner itself, which is set for Friday, November 4th from 6 to 11 pm at the Thayer Hotel in West Point. The dinner will honor the veterans who answered the call when America needed them in World War Two.
The veterans will also be the recipients of a trip to the World War Two Memorial in their honor in D.C. Proceeds from the dinner will help pay for the trip in the spring of 2012.
Zarutskie noted that time was short for many of the veterans. “We aren’t going to have World War Two veterans for long and while we have them, we should cherish them,” he said.
