“She Knew” by Kelly Patton, one of the Sundial Sisters who create their art at Patton Farmhouse in Newburgh.
For the second weekend in a row, Newburgh area art lovers will get a behind-the-scenes look inside the studios of visual and performing artists throughout eastern Orange County, including several in Newburgh. The tour this weekend is organized by the Orange County Arts Council, which invites the public to a kick-off reception at its headquarters at the Seligmann Estate in Sugar Loaf on Friday from 6 to 8 pm.
The Arts Council’s goal is to open up the world of artists to everyone – from students to the seasoned collector to the first-time art buyer or observer, to the curious general public. The council believes that through education, visitors become loyal customers and supporters of art.
In Newburgh, the book binding art of Alice Vaughan and Judy Sigunick of Hudson River Bindery will be featured on the tour, as well as the work of Meadow Meadow, Lynn Isaacson and Shannon Kahan that will be on display at tNewburgh Art Supply on Grand Street.
A total of 51 different artists throughout the area will welcome visitors during the self-guided tour, which runs from 11 am to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Using the Orange County North Studio Tour Map, visitors are directed to each participating studio location. These self-guided tour maps will be available throughout the county in galleries, local lodging businesses and tourist information centers, and can also be found at www.ocartscouncil.org.
