Anthony R. Marino, who with 32 years is the longest serving Orange County Legislator, Anita Manley, the co-founder of Town of Newburgh Friends of Seniors and Sandra Kissam, the president of the Stewart Park and Reserve Coalition were the inaugural honorees at the Heroes of Democracy Testimonial Dinner hosted by the Town of Newburgh Democratic Committee on Oct. 20 at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Newburgh.
The fundamental theme of the Heroes program was the power of an individual to affect positive change through committed community service. Former State Assemblyman Frank Skartados and Chris White, who represented Congressman Maurice Hinchey, were the keynote speakers.
Guests included many family and friends, as well as county legislators Myrna Kemnitz, Roxanne Donnery, Christopher Eachus, and former legislator James Kulisek; Orange County Democratic Committee Chairman Jonathan Jacobson; Stephen Krasner, Bill Corbin and Vanessa Tirado who are seeking election in the Town of Newburgh, and NY State Judicial candidates Frank DiBella and Paul Marx. The event was emceed by TNDC chair Vanessa Tirado and chaired by Ellenjane Gonyea of the TNDC executive board.
