From the Newburgh Free Library
Are you a fan of yoga but not the cheesy dental office music soundtrack that usually accompanies the practice? Are you new to both metal and yoga? No worries! Join in at the Newburgh Free Library on October 30, at 2 p.m. in the auditorium for “Heavy Metal Yoga,” a beginner’s Vinyasa power class with a metal soundtrack. Face-paint optional, but wildly encouraged!
Get ready for an intense yoga experience! Featuring music by some old favorites, like Metallica and Led Zeppelin, and a few new additions, this class is anything but boring. Monique Dauphin of Hudson River Yoga will be teaching a 1.5 hour challenging-yet-beginner-friendly power class focusing on core-training. She begins with a 10-15 minute warm-up, followed by a 45-minute continuous flow “workout,” and end with a 10-minute cool-down/meditation.
A lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, Monique has been practicing yoga for 15 years and firmly believes in its healing, transformative power. She teaches a style of yoga that emphasizes self-acceptance and the individual needs of each student.
Registration is required. To register please call the Newburgh Free Library at 563-3645 or 563-3619, or go online to www.newburghlibrary.org and click on “Calendar of Events.”
