Former New York State Assemblyman Democrat Frank Skartados is looking to recapture the seat he lost in 2010, according to his Facebook page.
Tom Kirwan, the Republican who defeated Skartados last year, passed away a week ago, leaving his seat vacant. Kirwan represented the 100th District, which includes both the town and city of Newburgh, as well as Beacon, part of the city of Poughkeepsie, Marlboro and Lloyd, for 15 years.
“I will be making an announcement soon concerning my intentions to recapture our 100th Assembly District Seat,” Skartados posted on Facebook Monday afternoon.
