Less than six months after Barbara Hembree opened LiberTea Shop on Liberty Street, she has closed its doors.
She opened the shop to bring to Newburgh a taste of an Irish tea shop, one of her longtime dreams. More than a month ago a back injury disabled her and made it impossible for her to be the hostess of the new shop. Her son, John, kept the shop open, she said, but she felt that she couldn’t keep it going without being on site as the hostess.
In closing, Hembree thanks all the great neighbors and friends she made while in business. “The names are too many to list but for a short period of time we met so many great and warm people and became part of a community. Thank you and may God Bless the New Year with prosperity and health,” Barbara said.

I had the opportunity to visit LiberTea with my friend a few months back and we loved it- that’s too bad. Good health and happiness to Barbara in 2012…
