The anti-bullying musical Letters to Daddy: The Musical Key to Bully-Free, has been awarded a $1,200 grant to support more performances this spring. The grant was given to the show’s creator, 4e Productions, of New Windsor.
In November, some 2,000 fifth- and sixth grade students from Newburgh city schools saw the production at Newburgh Free Academy. Sixteen talented young performers from throughout Orange County, including three from Newburgh, are part of the show’s cast.
The Puffin Foundation determined that Letters to Daddy supports its mission “to join with other concerned groups and individuals to ensure that the arts not merely survive, but flourish at all levels of our society.” The Orange County Arts Council served as fiscal sponsor for the production and the council’s executive director, Dawn Ansbro praised the show, calling it “an amazing production with some powerful messages for our children.”

With the support of grants and awards, 4e Productions has been able to bring the musical to the schools of Orange County free of charge. The company is planning a series of community events to begin in March, including performances at the historic Paramount Theatre in Middletown, NY.
