One month after two residents came to Newburgh city council to complain about drug trafficking on their block of West Parmenter Street, city police raided a home and arrested seven people Tuesday night.
A SWAT team executed a search warrant around 6:30 pm at a first-floor apartment at 105 West Parmenter following an investigaton by the city’s narcotics division into the alleged activity.
Police believe the apartment was used to supply drug users and low-level dealers in the immediate area around the apartment. Police seized three grams of crack cocaine and more than 14 grams of heroin from inside the apartment, as well as packaging material associated with heroin sales. Seven people were arrested inside the small apartment and were charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd, 4th and 5th degree, as well as criminal possession of drug paraphernalia in the 2nd degree, a misdemeanor.

They are Mark Baxter, age 21, of Poughkeepsie; Harold Emge, age 63, of Monroe; Daquan Nugent, age 19, of Albany; Charles McDonald, age 30, of Newburgh; Yoland West, age 47, of Newburgh; Jerry Holmes, age 20 of Newburgh; and Charlene Brown, age 29 of Newburgh.
Holmes was also charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 4th degree after he was allegedly found with about 10 grams of crack cocaine. Brown was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in an unrelated case.
