THIS SCREENING, CANCELLED DUE TO BAD WEATHER, HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR SUNDAY. JANUARY 29 AT 9:30 AM.
With the premier and scheduled release of the new George Lucas film “Red Tails” on January 20, 2012, the Major General Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter will host a free private screening for young adults on January 21, 2012 at Showtime Cinemas, 1420 Route 300, Newburgh, NY at 9:30 in the morning.
Executive-produced by George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars saga and the Indiana Jones series, “Red Tails” is a high-flying action epic inspired by the heroic exploits of the first all African-American aerial combat unit, the Tuskegee Airmen. Anthony Hemingway (“The Wire”) directs this gripping World War II actioner, which features a powerful ensemble cast including Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Oscar nominee Terrence Howard.
“The Irene Trowell-Harris Chapter is offering a free opportunity for young adults to see this full-length feature because it is an important film about the overseas exploits of the famed Tuskegee Airmen,” said chapter president Glen Fraser. “It is important that all young people get a chance to see that with opportunity, we can achieve.”
Students ages 11-17 are invited to attend the private screening without a parent or chaperone. All students younger than 11 years old must attend with a parent or chaperone. All students will receive FREE admission, parents and chaperones will be charged a fee of $10.
