City planners put these two buildings at 45-47 Chambers Street on the top of the list for demolition as part of their revitalization efforts in the area.
How do you want your neighborhood to look? The city of Newburgh is looking for residents to give their input on changes to the streetscape of a targeted area between Chambers and Dubois Streets and Broadway and South Street. City planners will start the work on Chambers Street between Broadway and Dubois.
City planners are inviting residents to review drawings, select landscapes, lighting, benches and other streetscape elements at two input sessions, the first on Saturday, January 28 at 9:30 am in the Board of Education Auditorium, 124 Grand St. and the second on Monday, January 30 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 3rd floor, 83 Broadway.
The improvements will be paid for through the city’s Federal Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.
“By creating a standard streetscape design in this particular area, we hope to support the goals of the neighborhood while leveraging the good work of the City’s partners, especially the Newburgh Community Land Bank,” said Ian MacDougall, Director of Planning & Development. “Resident input is essential to the overall success of the project.”
