The City of Newburgh is about to divided up into four wards that will determine the future voting patterns of residents. If you want to be part of the process that decide where the lines are done, the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC) wants to hear from you.
The CAC will screen interested candidates to be sure they are city residents, eligible to register and vote, and not elected government or political party officials.
If you are interested in serving on the Districting Commission, please forward a letter of interest with your contact information to Ann Kuzmik at City Hall, 83 Broadway, Newburgh, N.Y. 12550. The deadline is February 16, 2012 by 4 p.m.
The initial seven-member districting commission will have five members appointed by the 2012 City Council, and the districting commission will then appoint the remaining two members.
For more information on the CAC, please call Chairman Brian Denniston at (845) 561-1131 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
