A Jamaican-style restaurant was operating as a front for marijuana sales, according to city of Newburgh police who arrested the owner, 45-year-old Lloyd Williams, and two employees on Friday.
Police had a search warrant when they came to Chelsea’s Jerk Center at 110 William Street in response to complaints from people in the neighborhood who said the business was only posing as a restaurant.
In the kitchen, police say they found nine ounces of marijuana, some of it packaged for distribution, and little, if any, food preparation in sight.
Watson, along with employees Jacky Ingram, 54, and Errol Drummond, 50, were charged with criminal possession of marijuana, a class E felony.
