South Middle School sixth-grader Jackson Galati represented the Newburgh Enlarged City School District by placing seventh in the History Channel’s National History Bee for the upstate New York division.
A sixth-grade student at Newburgh’s South Middle School has captured a spot in the ten top-scoring spots in the upstate New York division of the History Channel’s National History Bee.
Jackson Galati came in seventh in the regional Bee at the end of January, after he and two eighth-graders, Sam Conti and Jack Anderson scored the top three spots among students at South Middle School.
Jackson traveled to Bethlehem, New York for the regional round, accompanied by family members and his teachers Alice Kish and Jonelle Formato-Santo.
“It is encouraging to see middle school students exhibit a passion for history and exciting to have Newburgh students perform well in the National History Bee. We congratulate all of the students, and their teachers, at South Middle School who participated,” said NECSD Director of Social Studies George Teasdale.
