Qatar is also the main supplier of natural gas to the UAE, via the Dolphin pipeline that supplies two billion cubic feet of gas daily to the country, as well as gas to Oman, and is Doha’s main point of leverage.

Some authorities in Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. say any vessel travelling to or from Qatar can not enter their ports. One one hand, Qatar, Turkey’s 7th biggest investor past year, has direct investments in Turkey as high as 18 billion US dollars, while the value of the projects undertaken by Turkish construction companies in Qatar, which will host the 2022 World Cup, has reached about 8.5 billion USA dollars. “We are still in the phase and let’s hope they are wise and understand that it’s in its best interest.what we are doing”, he said.
While plausible, Turkey’s one-sided support to Qatar could damage the chances of success of its mediation efforts, experts said.
The US relationship with Qatar has always been love-hate.

Qatar’s leaders sought to capitalize on the “Arab Spring” uprisings of 2011, partnering with Turkey to back anti-government forces in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. The F-15 deal could give Qatar the sense that it can defy its Gulf neighbors and still enjoy a good relationship with the U.S., despite Trump’s own statements that he backs the Saudi position. On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin telephoned Saudi King Salman to discuss the “aggravated situation around Qatar, which unfortunately does not help consolidate joint efforts in resolving the conflict in Syria and fighting the terrorist threat”, the Kremlin said in a statement.
All the more, Saudi, Egyptian, Bahraini and UAE governments now closely monitor all financial transactions and communications coming into or out of their counties and are -even remotely- linked to Qatar.
