James left Belleville in March to travel to Alexandria.

Officials say James T. Hodgkinson wounded House Rep. Steve Scalise and others Wednesday morning.

After getting out of a black SUV that drove down Rolling Hills Lane from the Hodgkinson home, Sue Hodgkinson stood next to a federal agent in front of a gaggle of reporters.

Suzanne Hodgkinson said she didn’t want to comment on her husband’s political views, but said she was not on the best terms with him.

“It’s just very freaky to think that this guy who was just sitting in there for weeks, not really doing anything, actually turned out to shoot at people”, Brennwald told Reuters. “I think it’s bad”, Reis said.

The shooter who opened fire on Republican congressmen at baseball field in Virginia had blasted GOP lawmakers and supported taxing the rich for years, according to a review of more than two dozen letters he wrote to his local hometown newspaper. Before leaving IL sometime in March, James Hodgkinson is believed to have sold nearly everything he owned from his home inspection business.

The gunman’s brother told The New York Times that the man was upset about Trump’s election and recently went to Washington to protest, but Michael Hodgkinson said he didn’t know why the man stayed in the area. A congressional staffer, Zach Barth, was shot in the leg; he was released from the hospital Wednesday afternoon, the Post reports. “I’m glad they took care that he didn’t get to do it again”, Schaumleffel said. Also, I don’t know if the shooter ever heard this speech and if he didn’t it obviously couldn’t have influenced him. He was shot by a responding officer and later died from his wounds.

Until past year, when his license expired, Hodgkinson ran a home inspection business. Authorities were investigating Hodgkinson’s social media posts, a cellphone, computer and camera.

He was a supporter of former Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and is believed to have volunteered for his campaign. Many included complaints about the same theme: income inequality. Court records show that his legal trouble started in the 1990s with arrests for resisting police and drunken driving.

The list was written on notepad paper, the Daily Caller reported, citing law enforcement sources.

“I wish I had some kind of clue that his hate was going to turn into a shooting”, said Dauberman, the mechanic.

Richard Wagner, chief deputy of the St. Clair County, Ill., Sheriff’s Dept., said there was nothing in Hodgkinson’s record that would prevent him from legally owning firearms in IL.

The sheriff’s deputies didn’t file charges, but they were familiar with Hodgkinson.
