Sampdoria Touch Base With Arsenal For Jack Wilshere

Wilshere, who is now injured again with a calf problem, has just under a year left on his Gunners contract but Wenger appears happy to have him back this summer, although he has warned the 25-year-old he needs to prove himself again when fit and work hard.

Wilshere was sent to Bournemouth last season as Wenger admitted he couldn’t guarantee him regular first-team football, with the added incentive that Wilshere needed to prove his fitness to his parent club to stake a place in their starting lineup.

However, Wenger – who signed a new two-year deal at the end of last season – reckons the England global will remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Wilshere was once viewed as the biggest talent to emerge from Arsenal’s youth academy for some time, but the past two seasons have seen his stock decline rapidly thanks to rotten luck with injuries. “He has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team”. The Italian team has offered Arsenal a cut-price fee of £9 million, as Arsene Wenger is ready to get rid of the player.

Wilshere has 12 months left to run on his current deal with no agreement over an extension in sight. “When we signed him on loan, and I have said this many times, the plan was for him to stay for a season and then to go back to Arsenal to evaluate his future”.

Wilshere’s loan spell with the Cherries was a relative success.
