NBA trade: Celtics, Sixers swap top picks

Saturday was Markelle Fultz Night for the 76ers. Fultz would solve that problem and more for the 76ers if they were to draft him. He can get to the basket and shoot from outside. He’s a 6-foot-4 point guard with a 6-10 wingspan who can play on and off the ball. However, Thomas has proved he is an All-Star after an outstanding regular season where he has averaged 28.9 points and 5.9 assists per game. Even before this trade with the 76ers, the Celtics already had an embarrassment of draft capital riches. But when he did get there he showed up wearing a Sixers hat.

The specifics of the deal, first reported by David Aldridge, appear to be as follows: Boston will take back the third overall pick in this year’s draft, as well as the Los Angeles Lakers’ pick in the 2018 draft, now owned by the Sixers.

Fultz – donning a Philadelphia cap as he arrived at the team’s practice facility – visited the 76ers on Saturday in a hastily arranged get-to-know-you session, with the workout and meeting with team officials.

“I just wake up and go where they tell me to go”, Fultz said. “Whatever happens, I’m looking forward to taking my talents wherever I go”. Boston still has the Brooklyn Nets’ first round pick in 2018. “It was what’s best for me as a player (to sit out)”. Of the players in this year’s National Basketball Association draft, Kansas’ Josh Jackson appears to be the player who is the closest to NBA-ready.

“I’ll do whatever it takes to help any team I go to win”, Fultz said. “The upside of it would be insane”. Fultz also posed for pictures with Embiid, Simmons and Robert Covington. Fultz was late for the workout because he got stuck in traffic. The Sixers are expected to use the first overall pick on Washington freshman Markelle Fultz. At one point, the Los Angeles were said to be eyeing trading down in the first round.

Fultz thinks he’d excel in Brett Brown’s uptempo system.

“They have a young team, and I think the upside of it would be insane”, the Upper Marlboro, Md., native said after the brief workout.

“It would be pretty cool”.

No Sixers executives were available to the media.

The No. 3 overall pick is intriguing but you have to imagine the Bulls will want a possible No. 1 overall pick too.

“I got to get a cheesesteak”, Fultz said. “I’m just trying to prove people wrong”. “I don’t really pay attention to everything that’s going on”. The team’s medical staff was able to review Fultz’s records and gave him clearance, because of this, the trade was able to be agreed upon.
