Tejashwi Yadav won't resign, says Lalu; RJD hits back

The RJD has made it clear that its leader and deputy chief minister Tejaswi Yadav will not resign. “Such disputes between the media persons and political leaders are unfortunate”, JD (U) leader K.C. Tyagi told ANI.

Meanwhile, senior JD (U) leader Shyam Rajak, once a close confidante of Lalu’s, said, “Laluji bujurgiyat me anap shanap bol rahe hain…”

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday said that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar must resign so that the fresh elections are conducted in the state.

“When Nitish Kumar was in an alliance with the BJP there were no issues during this time”.

There is speculation that Lalu may ask his son to resign and direct all the RJD Ministers to put in their papers while supporting the alliance Government from outside. The Congress’ stated position, articulated by the party’s Bihar chief Ashok Chaudhury, has been that it was the Chief Minister’s prerogative to decide if the junior Yadav should be in the cabinet or not.

Differences have surfaced within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over withdrawing support from the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar, with as many as 37 MLAs threatening to defect to the Janata Dal (United) in that case.

In fact, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday re-iterated that his son won’t resign from the post of Deputy CM but after Tejashwi snubbed Nitish today, the tussle has only sharpened. This was a counter back to RJD’s spokesperson who said that RJD has 80 MLAs and it will do what it wants to do and will stand with Tejashwi Yadav. “The RJD will not allow anybody to break our alliance”, Lalu said. Mr. Yadav said. He claimed that the CBI had registered the FIR against him in cases from 2004 when he was 14-year-old kid “with no moustache” and had no proper knowledge of scam and corruption. “No matter what comes, RJD would not allow the grand alliance government to fall”, he added. “Clean” image of CM Nitish Kumar, something that has been strongly opposed by RJD which feel that Tejashwi’s stepping down will give a wrong message to the Yadav community. “We respect people’s mandate and also strictly follow alliance dharma but RJD must give clarification on CBI raids and FIR against their leaders”, he said.
