Or at least the Galaxy Note 8 won’t be featuring an in-scree optical fingerprint scanner.

Samsung officials reported that Galaxy Note 8 will not incorporate a fingerprint sensor due to its technical difficulty and various technical limitations such as security. And if brands can pull it off intuitively, then we might see the on-screen fingerprint display becoming a mainstay feature of all smartphones in the near future, right from medium rangers to high end premium phones.

Display: What would differentiate the Samsung Galaxy S8 would be, above everything else, its display.

Samsung is having a hard time making an integrated circuit – a chip which should be placed under a display because of its opaque color – to read the fingerprint image on the surface of the display“, an industry source told The Korea Herald.

Still, a recent report by Samsung-centric website SamMobile claims that the Galaxy Note 8 could be unveiled at the IFA 2017 event that will be held in Berlin in early September.

If Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 8 doesn’t start exploding in users’ hands like last year’s Note model… Software wise, the Galaxy S8 Plus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat along with Samsung’s custom UI.

An anonymous insider, with knowledge of Samsung’s plans, has revealed that the embedded fingerprint scanner is causing problems with the display’s brightness. Unlike other major flagships, the Galaxy Note 8 does not pick up the baton from a predecessor – it is preceded by the disastrous Note 7 which, according to many reports, almost brought the series to an end.

Following months of rumours, Samsung announced its iPhone-rivalling Galaxy S8 earlier this year, bringing with it a radical redesign and connectivity to computer accessories. However, analysts are assuming that even iPhone 8 would not have an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The leaked spec sheet also says that the OnePlus 5 will feature a 4,000mAh battery pack and a 23-megapixel camera. The “equal or lesser value” part means you can’t buy the cheapest Galaxy S8 and expect to get a tricked-out Galaxy S8+ for free. What’s more, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG 6 are not even figuring in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in the U.S. market.
