Tim Tebow sends bat flying into the stands

Tim Tebow and his Tebowmania is running wild in the minor leagues, whether he’s hitting home runs, making diving catches, or just simply striking out.

Matt Frawley (4-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Columbia starter Gabriel Llanes (4-4) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.

The Fireflies stumbled on Saturday but still remain a half game in front of the Greenville Drive with just one game left in the first half of the season. The former Heisman victor struck out three times on Sunday, June 18, 2017, as the Fireflies fell out of a playoff spot.

Tebow is hitting.224 with a.319 OBP for the New York Mets’ Single-A Columbia (S.C.) Fireflies.

Tebow has had some highlights to add to his reel this season, as he’s launched homers and made some awkward-looking diving catches in the outfield to help his team out. He suffered eight strikeouts during the week, including three in Sunday’s 5-1 loss when a victory would’ve earned the Fireflies the division’s first-half title and the playoff spot that goes with it.

The Fireflies are back in action for game two of their three-game series against the Charleston RiverDogs on Saturday night. Tebow swung at a pitch and missed prior to losing his grip on the bat and sending it into the second level of the stands.
